Everyone wants to grow in their Ministry, if you don’t want to grow and multiply, then you definitely need to hand your Ministry over to someone with some vision and a dream for growth. Growth is something often taken simply as getting out and talking to people, or maybe as they come in you immediately try to relate with them. These things do cause relationships to grow and cause visitors to come in and hang out with you, but if there is no presence because you are trying to take control and run things or do things the way you want instead of the way the Holy Spirit wants to move, you won’t see anything but some people who like hanging out with you. People should want to hang out with you, yes, but their relationship with the Father is more important than anything.
Everytime we talk about growth the word relationship comes up, relationship is vital to keeping someone connected and letting them see the things in you so that they can draw from it and find more of God. But relationship and growth in the natural are two different things. Let me show you the definitions of both. Relationship; 1. a connection, association, or involvement. 2. connection between persons by blood or marriage. 3. an emotional or other connection between people: 4. a sexual involvement; affair. Growth is defined as; 1.the act or process, or a manner of growing; development; gradual increase. 2. size or stage of development: It hasn’t yet reached its full growth. 3. completed development. 4. development from a simpler to a more complex stage: the growth of ritual forms. 5. development from another but related form or stage: the growth of the nation state. 6. something that has grown or developed by or as if by a natural process. Relationship and Growth work together but they aren’t a cause and effect. Relationships can cause growth in that relationship, but it doesn’t cause more people to grow in relationship. You have to build with those people to build a seperate relationship. My relationship with God will help people around me, but there growth will come through their own relationship with the Father. Thats why I’m saying growth can happen in relationship but increase comes through growth. Growth comes from the Holy Spirit drawing hearts to Him, you have no control over who He draws or even what He wants to do.
Relationship is vital to growing together in the Spirit. When a visitor comes and you relate with them, that is great they might come to your connection, cell, or home group, whatever you would like to call it. But trying to grow that way will take you a life time! Relationship causes growth between a group or even two people. You will grow to know each other better, but every great revival that has ever kicked off has been because someone let the Holy Spirit do what He wants to do. You definitely need to relate with people, but we need to step out even further and begin to let our hearts be broken for the lost. It’s not about numbers, but it is about them getting to know the Father so they can build a relationship with Him. Your relationship with God causes you to grow in Him, it doesn’t make you pregnant in the natural, although you will probably go through spiritual birth pains! So why would we begin to think because I relate with visitors that I’m causing growth! There already in the building!!! You didn’t cause anything to grow, you related with people who have already been pursued by the Holy Spirit. Paul didn’t have such a great impact because he sat around and related with people that came to watch him preach. Paul affected lives because he went out in his anointing and related with people in the streets. He allowed the Holy Spirit to use him as a light house, drawing in people.
My wife had a vision last night, all she could see was a tall light house. As she got excited and looked up the definition of lighthouse she got even more excited. As she told me I realized that she was prophesying over our family! About two years ago I had a vision of a dry field as far as the eye could see. Throughout the field there were tall light house strategically placed. The lights came on and began to set a violent fire, the winds blew and spread the fire so fast that it couldn’t be put out. Ships are drawn to a lighthouse because it’s the only thing shining in the cold darkness. They don’t know the man working in the lighthouse, they see the light that he is shining and set their course to find the light guiding them through the darkness.
I don’t want you to think I’m saying relationship is not valuable as growth comes, or that I’m devaluing how important relationship is. I want you to understand that the Holy Spirit is what draws hearts to grow and causes people to be drawn to be a servant of the most high. We wouldn’t even begin to think that just because someone has musical talent that they can usher in the presence of God during worship, so why would we think that relating with someone would cause them to be consumed by the Holy Spirit. Relationship is vital to people because it shows them that you value them. Relating with that one person might cause them to bring their family and friends in, but we are talking about a supernatural growth here. I’m talking about people being drawn to the lighthouse because there is something glowing out of you and your Ministry.
Most of the population in America know about God or who God is. Most would tell you as your out talking to them that they go to Church. They will give you a phone number for them, most of the time a wrong number. So how do we cause growth and relationship to happen? First we have to go out and talk to people out of love. Everytime you talk to someone it doesn’t have to be about salvation, let them see the love within you. Give them a opportuinity to see what God has done in your life without even talking about it. Second, you must listen to the Holy Spirit and allow Him to draw their heart to Him. This doesn’t happen by anything other than listening and loving people around you. You must have a broken heart for the lost in order to reach the lost. Third, as the Holy Spirit begins to cause supernatural growth in your Ministry, begin to build relationships with those people. Not out of trying to build numbers, but out of a sincere heart that wants to see them succeed in finding who they are in your Ministry and in Jesus.
Relationship is very important to me, but I don’t want to take credit from the Holy Spirit by thinking that I merely cause growth because of what I do or say. Jesus related with probably millions, but the Holy Spirit drew people to Him and allowed Him to speak into their lives. Even then He only kept a certain number of people who wanted to continue in relationship with Him. Build relationships with people so that they don’t feel unloved, but allow supernatural growth to happen in your ministry by allowing the Holy Spirit to use you in your full anointing. Listen to His will and know who you are called to be in Him. Know that you are a lighthouse and that the Holy Spirit will draw people to you and you are called to build relationships with them. But most of all know that you have no control over what the Holy Spirit wants to do, you are vessel that allows him to use you and cause supernatural growth to happen. Be possessed by the Holy Spirit, that every word, look, and action be something to draw people in so that you can build relationships with them.
