When I was fifteen my Dad had a singing ministry that I was apart of. My Dad has a beautiful voice and taught us how to sing from our diaphragm. As I was singing one morning my Youth Pastor that honestly couldn’t hold a note told me that when I sing it sounded like I was talking. Well needless to say I quit singing and didn’t really have a desire to sing. She had caused me to be insecure about my voice and what God was doing in me at that time. When you look at what was going on in the natural my body was changing and so was my voice. I probably couldn’t find my range because my voice changing. But instead of speaking life and encouragement she caused me to quit singing and think that even when I do that I’m no good at it.
When we are the voice in someone’s life, how do we speak things to prepare them for whats ahead? We have been given the ability to speak life into every situation, so with it also came the ability to speak death. A lot of times we have no idea whats going on around us because we are so focused on our selves. So if we’re focused on what God’s doing in us, how are we supposed to see for the people leaning on us to receive? God has created a government of honor and leadership to adhere to people around us, so that His calling for people can be reached to their max potential.
We are given dreams and visions for a reason and a purpose! No one can stop what God has called you to do. Why would they want too? If a revival pours out of an 11-year-old child because he or she is doing what God has called them too, I’m gonna assist in any way that I can to make sure that the vision given to that child succeeds and changes the world around them. As leaders we have to be able to accept the things that God is calling our people towards and know that God has control of what happens. We don’t have power to draw hearts to God. God uses our hearts as a vessel to draw people in, but when it really comes down to it, the Holy Spirit draws and engages the hearts of His people. The Holy Spirit gives visions and dreams because He sees the heart of the man or woman.
Building leaders and dreamers comes through allowing people to discover God with in themselves. You have to allow people to learn and grow with God by doing the things God has called them to do. When someone comes to you with what God is working inside them, the first reaction that shouldn’t be given is why they can’t accomplish this vision. It should be in showing them how to build it or apply it to the body.
This is weighing so heavy on my heart because God recently gave me a vision for where my family is going. I’m not going to explain the vision to you being that God is still putting things in order for where He wants it to go. But this is a vision that He showed me would impact our region and our Church so much that a generation would feel the impact. As I told the people closest to me what God was showing me they were in full support. God had even showed them how it would be built and the ripple effects to continually cause growth. Before I even told them my vision they told me things that I sat and listened to in amazement because God was showing me what He wanted out of this Ministry.
So I asked myself, have I done that for the people around me? Have I allowed them to be their fullness in God? I like to think I do, but really how many times do we look at our disciples and ask “Ok, where is God taking you?” I pray and listen for where I think God’s taking them but we have to put the entire puzzle together to see the picture by allowing them to share what God is doing in them. I would bet on it every time that God is speaking things to the leader that are going on in the heart of the disciple, but both parts are different bringing the entire thing into one complete vision and where it’s going.
Well I’ve talked about leaders but what about the person taking a vision to their leader? You can’t just walk in and drop a vision with out the plan that God has given you to produce growth. No one would ever plant a seed and never water it, and not have a plan on what to do as the seed grows. With a vision God gives you a plan to cause growth. Never will He give us something and let us just sit stagnant waiting for something to happen. God gives the vision so that it will multiply through the ministry. That’s why as the Body we have to have the same vision as our Pastors. Pray about the vision and don’t be afraid to sit down and just have some questions and answers time with God. He will answer the questions you need to know to fulfill the vision He has set before you. God’s plan to change the world included you in it and you are a large piece to it.
Many people are having visions and dreams now, more than I have ever heard about in my life time, and this wasn’t written to condemn or cause strife. But to cause our minds to open up to what God wants to do around us. To be able to go into the streets and see the hearts of the people who God has created. My heart is breaking for this generation! I want to see a move of God that every man, woman, and child that is alive during this time will be dramatically affected by! I share the heart of my Pastor for this region and everything that is built, will be to glorify God and to produce and reproduce for the Kingdom.
